Helping a $2bn start-up connect internally to deliver internet for everyone, everywhere

O N E W E B

OneWeb is a global communications network powered by a constellation of 650 low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites. Headquartered in London, OneWeb enables high-speed, low latency connectivity for governments, businesses, and communities everywhere around the world. OneWeb’s satellites, network of gateway stations, and range of user terminals provide affordable, fast, high bandwidth communication services connected to the IOT future, and a pathway to 5G for everyone, everywhere.

The OneWeb problem statement was to create a cohesive, digital workplace tailored to business needs. The digital workplace had to facilitate collaboration and productivity across all employee touch points and unite the digital product ecosystem.

In response, we designed and delivered:

  • Service design workshops with product owners, stakeholders and employees in the business to build a prioritised roadmap for functionality aligned to value.

  • A singular, consistent point of contact for all employees to access the OneWeb digital workplace, via a central portal, Eos, that leveraged the full functionality of Microsoft O365, alongside legacy platforms.

  • A ‘one stop shop’ experience that allowed employees to access everything they needed to work effectively, regardless of their role type or location.

  • A roadmap for continued improvement, including key metrics to test against, to inform ongoing user insight and continued value.

  • Embedding Agile ways of working within the OneWeb teams. The business landscape was constantly changing. Features and functionality deemed ‘business critical’ were sometimes de-scoped several weeks later. Working in an Agile way and being able to adapt and embrace this type of change, was critical to the ongoing success of the project.

Since launch, Eos has received positive feedback from both OneWeb employees and senior stakeholders alike.

  • Daily visits and usage has remained very high since launch.

  • Employees continue to actively engage with ‘give us your feedback’ and survey functionality embedded into the design, enabling them to be a key part of the ongoing process in continuing to shape the digital workplace.

  • David Bath, Chief Architect at OneWeb, stated that Eos has been instrumental in helping to bring the OneWeb employees closer together and collaborate more effectively as a team.

“To change hearts and minds, winning everyone over and then delivering something better than expected. And something they couldn’t have done themselves. This is exemplary. Real change management.”

David Bath, Chief Architect, OneWeb
